Who we are
The Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (DG ITEC) provides the European Parliament with information and communication technology services as well as document production, printing and distribution services.
The Business Platforms and Artificial Intelligence Unit plays a key role in fostering innovation within the European Parliament’s administration. Its mission includes exploring emerging technologies, promoting the reuse of AI projects to minimise duplication, and enabling a data-driven culture by ensuring high-quality standards.
Your tasks
The potential of automation and process mining is becoming increasingly relevant for optimising workflows and improving efficiency. The traineeship will focus on exploring how these technologies can support decision-making and streamline administrative processes. The trainee will contribute to:
- Understanding and analysing end-to-end automation workflows, including robotic process automation (RPA) and process mining techniques;
- Exploring process mining methodologies to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimisation in internal workflows;
- Conducting technology scouting to assess the latest trends in automation, process mining, and intelligent document processing (AI based) solutions;
- Mapping existing automation initiatives within the European Parliament to foster collaboration and avoid redundancy;
- Presenting findings through data visualisations, dashboards, and structured reports.
This traineeship will provide an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, automation, and digital transformation, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies while contributing to innovation within a major European institution.
You are
- Academic background in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, or a related field;
- Strong interest in automation technologies, such as robotic process automation (RPA), process mining, and intelligent document processing;
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex workflows and identify optimisation opportunities;
- Proactive and collaborative attitude, with a keen interest in innovation and public sector digital transformation.
