Who we are
The Directorate-General for Parliamentary Democracy Partnerships (DG PART) is tasked with fostering cooperation with national parliaments as well as coordinating the efforts made by Parliament liaison offices and representations outside of the European Union with the objective to streamline actions aimed at promoting and upholding parliamentary democracy in Europe and beyond.
The Directorate for External Liaison Offices is responsible for managing the European Parliament’s representation in third countries and international organisations, as well as overseeing the European Union Visitors’ Programme (EUVP). It includes the UK Liaison Office in London, the Congressional Liaison Office in Washington, D.C., and staff representations at the United Nations in New York, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, and the African Union Secretariat in Addis Ababa.
The Directorate's core mission is to act as a diplomatic vehicle to strengthen the European Parliament’s presence and influence in the field of parliamentary diplomacy worldwide.
