Who we are
The Directorate-General for Parliamentary Democracy Partnerships (DG PART) is tasked with fostering cooperation with national parliaments as well as coordinating the efforts made by Parliament liaison offices and representations outside of the European Union with the objective to streamline actions aimed at promoting and upholding parliamentary democracy in Europe and beyond.
The Directorate for External Liaison Offices brings together the Parliament's representation functions in third countries and international organisations, as well as the European Union Visitors’ Programme (EUVP). It encompasses the UK Liaison Office in London, the Congressional Liaison Office in Washington DC, and staff representations at the United Nations in New York, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, and the African Union’s Secretariat in Addis Ababa. It also includes the Parliament’s presence in Kyiv (Ukraine), in Moldova (covering the Eastern Partnership region), in Albania (covering the Western Balkans region), and in Panama (covering the Latin America and Caribbean region).
The overarching mission of the Directorate for External Liaison Offices is to act as a diplomatic vehicle, reinforcing the European Parliament’s role in parliamentary diplomacy across the globe.
