Who we are
The Directorate-General for Parliamentary Democracy Partnerships (DG PART) is tasked with fostering cooperation with national parliaments as well as coordinating the efforts made by Parliament liaison offices and representations outside of the European Union with the objective to streamline actions aimed at promoting and upholding parliamentary democracy in Europe and beyond.
The Strategy and Communications Unit reports directly to the Director-General and is responsible for a number of horizontal reporting and strategic planning tasks as well as planning and implementing the communication activities of the Directorate-General.
As a horizontal unit, the Strategy and Communications Unit coordinates the Directorate-General's contributions to institutional projects and follows up on projects that DG PART shares with other Directorates-General. It works with partners and stakeholders to strengthen communication on the European Parliament's activities within the areas of responsibility of DG PART and also produces content for internal and external communication.
Your tasks
The trainee will be tasked with assisting the Unit's staff in their duties, inter alia:
- Organise activities in general;
- Coordinate and cooperate with internal and external stakeholders;
- Provide written contributions to, e.g. speeches, presentations, briefings, letters and notes;
- Provide operational support as necessary.
Horizontal tasks involving work with other entities in the Directorate-General can be expected.
The trainee should rapidly acquire a good knowledge of Parliament's structure and functioning, in order to contribute to tasks linked to strategy and communications, in interaction with other Units in DG PART and other Directorates-General.
Some tasks of a practical and administrative nature can be expected, especially in view of the fact that both the Unit and the Directorate-General itself are recently established structures.
You are
The successful candidate will possess at least a Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in a field relevant to the field of activity of the Unit, e.g. Political Science, Public Affairs, Public Relations or Communication, and should:
- Be able to work both independently and as part of a team;
- Have very good drafting skills in English;
- Be able to communicate efficiently and tactfully with stakeholders both inside and outside the European Parliament;
- Have a good sense of situational judgment;
- Be well-organised and able to comply with deadlines.
