Who we are
The Directorate-General for Parliamentary Democracy Partnerships (DG PART) is tasked with fostering cooperation with national parliaments as well as coordinating the efforts made by Parliament liaison offices and representations outside of the European Union with the objective to streamline actions aimed at promoting and upholding parliamentary democracy in Europe and beyond.
The Innovation and Partnership Development Unit is a horizontal unit within DG PART, tasked with developing new initiatives, concepts, and partnerships both within and outside the EU, in alignment with the broader objectives of DG PART.
It also plays a key role in identifying and implementing synergies across various services within DG PART, as well as between DG PART and other Directorate-Generals of the European Parliament, EU institutions, and international organisations.
Your tasks
The trainee will support the staff of the Unit in carrying out their tasks, including but not limited to:
- Organising and coordinating various activities;
- Liaising and cooperating with internal and external stakeholders;
- Contributing to the drafting of written materials, such as speeches, presentations, briefings, letters, and notes;
- Conducting research and analysis, and preparing concise, well-structured reports;
- Attending meetings of the European Parliament’s political bodies and external conferences, and preparing feedback notes;
- Providing operational support as required.
The trainee may also be involved in horizontal tasks in collaboration with other entities within the Directorate-General.
They are expected to quickly acquire a solid understanding of the structure and functioning of the European Parliament, enabling them to contribute effectively to partnership development tasks in coordination with other Units in DG PART and other Directorates-General.
Given that both the Unit and the Directorate-General are newly established, some practical and administrative tasks may also be required.
You are
The successful candidate will hold at least a Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in a field relevant to the Unit's area of activity, such as international relations, and should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team;
- Excellent drafting skills in English;
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage efficiently and tactfully with stakeholders both within and outside the European Parliament;
- Sound situational judgment and discretion;
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks effectively.
