Who we are

The Directorate-General for Parliamentary Democracy Partnerships (DG PART) is tasked with fostering cooperation with national parliaments as well as coordinating the efforts made by Parliament liaison offices and representations outside of the European Union with the objective to streamline actions aimed at promoting and upholding parliamentary democracy in Europe and beyond.

The Director-General's office provides support to the Director-General, who leads, oversees and coordinates the work of the three Directorates that compose DG PART, i.e. Directorate A for the Relations with National Parliaments, Directorate B for External Liaison Offices and Directorate C for Resources. The Strategy and Communications Unit is linked to the Director-General's office.

 

Your tasks

The trainee will be tasked with assisting the Director-General's staff in their duties, inter alia:

  • Organise activities and meetings in general;
  • Provide operational support as necessary;
  • Coordinate and cooperate with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Proofread English texts;
  • Provide written contributions to e.g. speeches, presentations, briefings, letters and notes.

Horizontal tasks involving collaboration with other units across the Directorate-General will be part of the trainee's work experience. The trainee should rapidly acquire a good knowledge of Parliament's structures and functioning, in order to contribute to tasks linked to partnership development, in interaction with other units in DG PART and other Directorates-General. Tasks of a practical and administrative nature can be expected.

 

You are

The successful candidate holds a Bachelor's (or Master's) degree, preferably in a field relevant to the activities of the Directorate-General, e.g. European Studies, European law, International relations, Gender Studies, Graphic Design, Communications etc., and should:

  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Be able to deal with sensitive information in an appropriate way;
  • Have excellent drafting skills in English; good knowledge of another EU language, in particular Finnish, would be an asset;
  • Be able to communicate efficiently and tactfully with stakeholders both inside and outside the European Parliament;
  • Have a good sense of situational judgment;
  • Be well-organised and able to comply with deadlines.
