Who we are

The Directorate-General for Citizens' Rights, Justice and Institutional Affairs (DG IUST) organises and facilitates the work of parliamentary committees in key areas such as culture, education, legal and constitutional affairs, gender equality, civil liberties, petitions and democracy protection. Through high-quality research, expert advice, and administrative support, DG IUST enables Members and committees to shape sound legislative and policy outcomes.

The Resources Unit is a horizontal service that supports the whole DG and works closely with the Director General. As a communication trainee, you will work to make sure that the activities of our DG are brought to light. You will mainly work on internal communication, which comprises using the DG’s intranet website and creating content to feed it. You will also assist committees and services in choosing the right means to communicate on their activities. You will help with the compilation and dissemination of the DG’s newsletter. Finally, you will also touch upon the external aspect of communication by working on the internet sites of committees and collaborating with them and other services of the European Parliament on more global campaigns.

 

Your tasks

  • Assist in internet/intranet related projects (e.g. webpage design, Committee Website, DG IUST intranet, eCommittee, eMeeting), including drafting news articles and producing engaging and impactful visuals (graphics, pictures, videos);
  • Assist with the creation and updating of a database compiling research papers;
  • Contribute to the Communication Network and the Subwebmasters Network;
  • Implement the EP’s Brand Book guidelines in the creation of visuals;
  • Assist with DG IUST’s contribution to the EP events and/or projects (such as Europe Day, the European Youth Event, etc.) as needed;
  • Follow-up on web communication activities performed in committee secretariats/policy departments;
  • Attend relevant meetings and provide feedback.

 

You are

  • Familiar with the work of the European Parliament;
  • At ease working both independently and in a multicultural and multilingual team;
  • Creative and comfortable with presenting your ideas;
  • Experienced in working on graphic designs;
  • Experienced with the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign);
  • In possession of good interpersonal, client-oriented communication skills;
  • In possession of good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Fluent in English;
  • In possession of good IT skills;
  • Responsible, eager to learn and ready to take on additional tasks.
