Who we are
The Directorate for Committee Coordination and Legislative Activities (CCLA) provides coordination and expertise on all horizontal issues related to the activities of the committees in the European Parliament. The Directorate also addresses and promotes the common needs of committees in their legislative, scrutiny and budgetary activities, and highlights the work of the committees through various communication channels. The secretariat of the Conference of Committee Chairs is also provided by the Directorate.
Why choose a traineeship at CCLA?
The European Parliament’s committees play a crucial role in Parliament’s legislative, scrutiny and budgetary activities, as they are responsible for preparing Parliament’s positions, in particular on new legislative proposals. As a CCLA trainee, you will be involved in parliamentary committee work at a horizontal level, which will give you a good understanding and broad overview of committee work in the European Parliament. You will be surrounded by experienced colleagues who are involved in negotiations in the context of the ordinary legislative procedure, coordinate Parliamentary committees, including through the preparation of the Conference of Committee Chairs, or work towards the promotion of committee work through various means.
The Communication Coordination Unit supports all the Committees in their dissemination activities, from websites and newsletters, to publications and events. We want to be sure that the core business of the Parliament’s committees is accessible to citizens and stakeholders. To do so, we cooperate with many other services and DGs. We are responsible for the communication channels, and within this framework we also manage the internal communication within the four legislative DGs and across the Parliament.
Our activities can be divided in three groups:
- Internal communication;
- External communication;
- Liaison/partnership.
The Communication Coordination Unit works within these three groups and graphic design support is transversal across all three.
