Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament’s accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level.

DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. The Members' Local Assistance Financial Management Unit within DG FINS ensures the payment of expenses related to Members' local parliamentary assistants and takes care of the administrative handling of local assistant contracts and service provider contracts, as well as paying-agent and Members' trainee contracts. The Unit ensures smooth handling of the files within applicable rules in support of Members' needs related to their mandate.

You will join a small team (7-8 people) of colleagues dealing with different requests by Members of the European Parliament (MEP). The team is responsible for files coming from MEPs of the following Member states - Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Rep, Denmark, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

 

Your tasks

  • Analysing MEP’s requests against a set of rules - service provider contracts, employee contracts, invoices, travel expenses, etc.;
  • Handling Members’ files following established procedures;
  • Registration of data and follow-up information concerning MEP’s request;
  • Communicating directly with the MEPs and assistants;
  • Drafting emails and letters;
  • Statistical analysis and visualisation of data with Excel.

 

You are

  • Graduate in finance, law, economics, audit, mathematics, business, etc.;
  • Interested to learn about budget management and audit controls;
  • Good at drafting and communicating based on facts;
  • Able to easily process and manage new information;
  • Well organised and capable of managing various demands simultaneously;
  • Meticulous, with an eye for detail, following established procedures;
  • A team-worker;
  • Proficient with computers and standard software packages (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, etc.);
  • Fluent in various EU languages with preference to the above mentioned ones.
