Who we are
The Directorate-General for Cohesion, Agriculture and Social Policies (DG CASP) is responsible for organising the work of the Parliament's AGRI, EMPL, HOUS,PECH,REGI, and TRAN Committees and for assisting Members in the exercise of the legislative, budgetary and oversight powers conferred upon the European Parliament.
The Secretariat of the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN secretariat) comprises a well-integrated team of colleagues working together in a friendly atmosphere with a mission to support the Chair and the Members of the TRAN Committee in their legislative and non-legislative parliamentary work. The TRAN secretariat is part of the Directorate General for Cohesion, Agriculture and Social Policies (CASP) that deals with a relevant part of the internal policies of the European Union.
We organise the Committee meetings and help the Committee to establish and meet its main political priorities in the areas of transport and tourism. This includes assisting the Members in their legislative work, proposing appropriate measures for evaluating implementation, ensuring scrutiny vis-à-vis the Commission and its agencies and providing internal and external expertise. We also help the Members to draft and edit documents, reports and opinions on various aspects of European transport, tourism and postal service policies and prepare the committee votes on the parliamentary amendments.
