Who we are
The European Parliament's Directorate-General for Parliamentary Research Services (DG EPRS) provides comprehensive research and analytical support to the Members of the European Parliament, its parliamentary committees and the European Parliament as a whole. The EPRS philosophy is to provide independent, objective and authoritative information.

Why choose a traineeship at DG EPRS?
'Empowering through knowledge' is the guiding principle of EPRS. As an EPRS trainee, you will be exposed to the core of the research and analysis process in the European Parliament. Surrounded by colleagues working on publications covering a wide range of EU policies, you will gain detailed knowledge of the EP's workings while honing your skills in your specific topic of interest. If you choose a traineeship in one of EPRS's library units, you will help the parliamentary community find the resources they need for their work.
The Linking the Levels Unit is a central service in the European Parliamentary Research Service directly attached to the office of the Director General and it is driving an exciting new approach to interconnecting various levels of government in the EU.
The unit's main objectives consist of assisting the Director General by:
- Engaging in outreach to build lasting partnerships with relevant stakeholders and potential multipliers in a system of multilevel governance;
- Enhancing cooperation with European, national, regional and local governmental institutions;
- Developing closer cooperation on policy cycle issues with these and other relevant organisations;
- Supporting DG EPRS directorates with input from such partners for EP committees and the European Parliament as a whole;
- Supporting evidence-based policy-making and scrutiny of the executive in coordination with other EPRS units.
Your tasks
- You will be part of a small dynamic team and will contribute to various aspects of building institutional outreach to partners and relevant stakeholders;
- You will be quickly immersed into various aspects of our work and you will be engaged in a wide range of tasks;
- Your work will be diverse, including communication and research, as well as managing databases and its analytical tools;
- You will assist with our outreach activities to build lasting partnerships with relevant stakeholders and potential multipliers in a system of multilevel governance;
- You will help prepare meetings and draft summaries;
- You will acquire data from relevant data sources, work on databases to ensure quality input from partners and analyse results.
