Who we are

The European Parliament stands for European democracy. We help connect it to people.  

This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament, and assisting Members in their communication activities. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

The European Parliament Liaison Office in Slovenia provides information on the role, structure, competencies, and tasks of the European Parliament. We also provide relevant data on Slovenian Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and their activities, as well as report on issues currently discussed by the Parliament that are key for Slovenia and for Europe as a whole.

We also inform the media, respond to journalists’ inquiries, and provide information to media representatives wishing to attend plenary sessions of the Parliament.

Our wide range of tasks and services includes:

  • Informing citizens, stakeholders, and media about the European Parliament as well as the role and work of Slovenian MEPs;
  • Enabling access to reports, resolutions, and other documents of the European Parliament; 
  • Providing information on the activities of the European Parliament for and together with schools;
  • Providing information on the European elections in Slovenia;
  • Helping to find relevant interlocutors for events and presentations on EU-related matters;
  • Giving counsel on the application process for traineeships or job vacancies in the European Parliament and other EU institutions.

 

Your tasks

  • Assisting in social media content creation and posting (texts & visuals) and help with other aspects of social media communication management;
  • Creating content, visuals and video material for social media and web;
  • Assisting at stakeholder, press and PR events organised by the Liaison Office;
  • Media monitoring in selected media outlets (recurring activity);
  • Drafting press releases and announcements;
  • Consolidating press event's programme;
  • Background drafting for specific reports (such as post-event reports, annual report of activities, social media reporting etc.);
  • Preparing analysis, background material and presentations for various projects ;
  • Stakeholder mapping;
  • Drawing up and updating contact database;
  • Translating from Slovenian to English and from English to Slovenian;
  • Drafting minutes of the meetings.

 

You are

  • You are interested in communication and the activities of the European Parliament and the European Union;
  • You enjoy teamwork, rapid task distributions, are clear-headed and able to prioritize tasks and should grab the essence easily;
  • Interest and prior experience in social media & web content creation and event organisation will be considered as an asset;
  • You are organized and flexible to take on various tasks;
  • Fluency in Slovenian, very good command of English, any other official language of the EU will be considered an asset.
