This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament, and assisting Members in their communication activities.
The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
The Directorate for Liaison Offices is DG Communication's front line in the Member States. The Offices connect to citizens across the European Union, engaging with their concerns, understanding their cultures and speaking their languages, in order to make that vital connection between the European Parliament and the diverse local realities it represents. The Offices play a crucial role in disseminating information on the work of the European Parliament as well as engaging with citizens and various stakeholders.
The European Parliament Liaison Office in Romania informs the public about the European Parliament and its activities, informs the media about the debates and legislative priorities of the European Parliament and organizes European communication activities. The communication events organized by the European Parliament Liaison Office in Romania are done with the participation of MEPs and are carried out in partnership with national and local authorities, universities and schools and representatives of civil society (associations, non-governmental organizations), etc.
Your tasks
- Providing the European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) team members with written and verbal assistance: preparing basic files, translating documents, drafting communication documents and reports, etc.;
- Helping to organise communication events and debates: sending invitation letters, drafting agendas, managing logistics, welcoming participants, drafting minutes of the meetings, etc.;
- Assisting the EPLO team in managing the social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter): proposing communication strategy for various events or campaigns, ensuring compliance with the European Parliament communication rules and objectives;
- Managing the social media accounts under the social media manager's supervision;
- Fostering contact between the Office and potential external partners;
- Assisting the EPLO team in various research and analysis activities;
- Being involved in communication and administrative activities related to the ongoing communication campaigns;
- Contributing to any ad-hoc and on-going projects;
- Helping in preparation of press materials and in the organisation of press briefings/conferences.
You are
We are looking for a colleague with a good knowledge of the EU institutions and the European political environment.
The ideal candidate has:
- Very good drafting and summarizing skills;
- A good overall judgement;
- A flexible approach to the tasks received;
- A genuine interest to get involved in the activities carried out by the EPLO in Romania;
- Since our Office works closely with the DG COMM Units from Brussels, very good language skills are important - in addition to an excellent knowledge of Romanian, an excellent knowledge of English is required and a fair knowledge of French would be appreciated.
