Who we are

If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament’s Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

We are a team of HR professionals offering tailor-made solutions to our clients, in line with the HR needs of the European Parliament. Via a proactive talent management approach, we help Parliament’s Directorates-General (DGs) in their search for suitable candidates and recruits with the desired professional profiles, skills, competencies, aptitudes and values.

To achieve this, the Talent Selection and Outreach Unit:

  • Organises and runs internal and external competitions and selection procedures, as well as manages spontaneous applications;
  • Assesses, in cooperation with the Strategic HR Planning Unit, the future needs in terms of competitions and selection procedures; this also involves close coordination with the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) and the other EU institutions;
  • Manages the reserve lists drawn up following Parliament’s competitions and selection procedures; our internal clients are the DGs that use these lists to attract candidates and we liaise with them regarding the selection of successful candidates;
  • Plays an active role in developing Parliament’s employer brand and outreach activities to attract the talent needed.

This traineeship in the Talent Selection and Outreach Unit gives you an opportunity to take a broader view of Parliament as an organisation. By joining our largely Brussels-based team, you will have the chance to see Parliament in action, learn more about the EU and about HR, to build up an international network and to meet people from a broad range of backgrounds.

You will discover other ways of thinking and acting in this forward-looking unit. This traineeship is a unique chance to grow professionally and personally, in a team of open-minded, friendly, flexible, hard-working and fun colleagues. Expect a stimulating and autonomous working environment.
