The European Parliament stands for European democracy. We help connect it to people.
This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament, and assisting Members in their communication activities.
The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
The Directorate for Liaison Offices is DG COMM's front line in the Member States. The Liaison Offices connect to citizens across the European Union, engaging with their concerns, understanding their cultures and speaking their languages, in order to make that vital connection between the European Parliament and the diverse local realities they represent. Your tasks
A variety of tasks related to social media, events, publications, research and other specific tasks that might turn up during your traineeship.
Some examples are:
- Assisting the European Parliament Liaison Office team in managing the social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube): propose communication strategy for various events or campaigns, managing the social media accounts under the social media manager supervision;
- Supporting in preparation and organization of public events and public debates: sending invitation letters, drafting agendas, managing logistics, welcoming participants, drafting minutes of the meetings, etc.;
- Assisting the European Parliament Liaison Office team in various research and analysis activities;
- Preparing presentations on EU-related topics;
- Supporting the realisation of the youth projects (EP Ambassador Schools Programme, Euroscola);
- Being involved in communication and administrative activities related to the ongoing communication campaigns;
- Drafting texts and making photos for European Parliament Liaison Office's website and social media accounts;
- Assisting in answering inquiries from citizens.
You are
- A university graduate interested in communication in general and EU issues in particular, preferably with some working experience in domains such as press, media, European affairs, social media communication, public relations, or youth/education projects;
- A team player with an excellent command of German and a very good knowledge of English and/or French
- Knowledgeable about Austrian politics and media;
- A passionate communicator with very good writing skills;
- Communicative and ready to explain European issues;
- Reliable and motivated.
