This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament, and assisting Members in their communication activities. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
Visiting the European Parliament in Strasbourg enables citizens to build a direct relationship with the European institutions and examine Europe from a European perspective. Europa Experiences are bringing the visitor experience to citizens around Europe. The visiting facilities in Strasbourg are aimed at many audiences, including families, young people and the educational sector. Different activities, such as the permanent exhibitions and role-play games, cater to various interests, whether academic or curious.
The Visitors and Citizens Liaison Unit - Strasbourg serves as a contact point for citizens and visitors at the seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. It liaises with local and regional authorities, international organisations based in Strasbourg and the diplomatic corps. Our Strasbourg Social Media channels help promote all our divers actions and open up a digital way to engage with citizens from the border region and all over Europe. During your traineeship, you will be able to discover different projects and facets of the European Parliament’s external communication work.
Your tasks
- Help plan and elaborate our visitors’ offer (including exhibitions);
- Participate in the organization of other European and cross-border events, as well as youth events;
- Assist with organising visits, guided tours and exhibitions for citizens in several languages;
- Draft input for external communication and support team in developing communication strategies;
- Participate in regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders;
- Support social media content creators in day-to-day tasks, such as: research, drafting social media content, and coordinating creative production and campaigns;
- Monitor social media accounts: support online community management on Twitter and Facebook in French and German;
- Contribute to the development of our social media strategy and editorial planning;
- Help maintain an active online presence by engaging with our followers and other key stakeholders;
- Analyse online communication, seek ways to engage the audience and to reach out to new audiences.
You are
- An excellent communicator both orally and in writing, with great attention for detail;
- Experienced or strongly interested in visitors and citizens relations, event management and intercultural communication as well as social media management (Facebook, Twitter), content creation and community management;
- Ideally, fluent in French and German, as well as in English;
- Interested in European affairs, cultural and youth events;
- A team player who enjoys working as part of a dynamic unit;
- Creative, curious and enjoy developing new ways of communicating;
- Flexible and enjoy working on a variety of subjects;
- Video editing and graphic design skills appreciated.
