Who we are

The Secretariat of the Bureau and the Quaestors is responsible for preparing and following up on the meetings of these two governing bodies, in close cooperation with the Cabinets of the President and the Secretary-General, as well as all other relevant Directorate-Generals and Services.

The main tasks of the Secretariat include drafting chair notes, technical notes, minutes, draft decisions, follow-up letters and draft Notices to Members related to items dealt with and decisions made by these bodies. The team ensures the distribution and processing of all necessary documents to attendees prior to the meetings. The Secretariat is also responsible for the preparation of the meetings of all working groups of the Bureau as well as ad-hoc working groups.

Within the Secretariat, a team of three people is tasked with closely assisting the activity of the Vice-President responsible for Parliament's dialogue with churches, religious and philosophical organisations, as foreseen under Article 17 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU). Our activity includes the organisation of regular dialogue activities, such as meetings between the Vice-President and Article 17 organisations, as well as seminars on EU policies where representatives of Article 17 partner organisations engage in dialogue with Members and other EU institutional actors. Other activities may include book presentations by authors on topics related to religion, philosophy and public policy.
