Who we are

The Directorate-General for Security and Safety’s (DG SAFE) mission is to ensure the safety of people and property within the European Parliament, in all three workplaces, including fire, panic and first aid prevention. It shall endeavour to minimise the existing level of security risk in order to provide a safe and serene working environment for the services of the Institution and its Members while allowing the European Parliament to maintain the openness and transparency that characterise it.

The Directorate for Security Operations counts more than 650 people who ensure access to and the safety of people within Parliament's premises, as well as the security of goods therein.

The Directorate has 4 units: the Security Brussels Unit, the Security Strasbourg Unit, the Security Luxembourg Unit and the Protection Unit.

Mission of the Directorate:

  • Guarantee the security and safety of persons and property on Parliament’s premises in the three places of work, in keeping with the rules and implementing measures laid down by the political authorities;
  • Ensure that checks are carried out on all persons, vehicles, supplies and mail entering Parliament’s buildings;
  • Provide a high-level service in the context of management of and reception arrangements for guests and visitors of the Parliament, particularly when major events are held on Parliament’s premises;
  • On security issues, liaise and collaborate at appropriate level with the authorities of the host countries and with the security services of the other EU institutions. 

The Security Brussels Unit is responsible, among other tasks, for:

  • Ensuring the security and protection of persons and property, and overseeing checks on entries to Parliament buildings in Brussels;
  • Facilitating the smooth running of official visits, meetings, and events, and contributing to security planning and implementation for events and construction projects;
  • Enforcing national and EU security laws, implementing Parliament's security decisions, and coordinating with national and institutional authorities on security matters.

 

Your tasks

  • Contribute to the internal communication of the Directorate;
  • Assist in a series of administrative activities of follow-up of security agents;
  • Logistical support (inventory and distribution of specific equipment);
  • Contribute to drafting the annual activity report of the Directorate;
  • Develop user satisfaction surveys on the services provided by Directorate’s different teams;
  • Translate different instructions and procedures in EN-FR;
  • Draft different reports and minutes of meetings in EN-FR.

 

You are

  • We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate who enjoys engaging with a variety of tasks and challenges and has a strong interest in the security field;
  • Proficiency in French and English, the main working languages of the Directorate, is essential for daily operations;
  • Knowledge of any other EU language is an additional asset. The ideal candidate will demonstrate versatility in handling diverse responsibilities and adaptability to the ever-evolving security environment.
