Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament’s accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. The Members' Salaries and Social Entitlements Unit manages the individual entitlements of Members and former Members, and provides personalised support to these two groups. We offer you a dynamic working environment with great diversity in which you will work both on general administrative issues within the unit and on concrete questions received by our clients.

 

Your tasks

  • Learning about Members’ financial and social entitlements;
  • Communicating and cooperating with different units of the European Parliament as well as the European Commission;
  • Learning about drafting of administrative documents, personal file management and financial controls;
  • Demonstrating your data extraction, analysis and problem-solving skills;
  • Testing your customer service skills with former Members, Members and their assistants;
  • Assisting to update databases and different communication channels like brochures and the intranet site;
  • Taking part in execution of the archiving policy within the Unit.
