Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament’s accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. The Members' Attendance and Travel Expenses Unit is responsible for the entire management of Members' financial rights within its area of competence. It is in charge of receiving, verifying and paying Members' subsistence allowances, travel expenses and the fees relating to their professional training, in due time and in compliance with the rules in force.

 

Your tasks

  • Assistance in workflow for reimbursement of Members' travel and subsistence expenses, in particular for checks on invoices and payments;
  • Support in the preparation of dossiers related to travel and subsistence expenses and control of their legality, regularity and compliance with the current rules and regulations;
  • Assistance in the preparation of documents and tables for ad-hoc analyses and checks;
  • Ensure that the working practices are in accordance with its policies and regulations;
  • Conduct legal analysis and researching legal matters;
  • Provide advice on legal matters;
  • Contribute, from a legal point of view, to the drafting of notes and letters to Members of Parliament.

 

You are

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Is dynamic with a taste for finance and with very good analytical and research skills, eager to learn and ready to take on challenges;
  • Is able to to work in a team and collaborate with experts from other disciplines;
  • Is able to identify and solve legal problems efficiently and to exercise good judgment and make effective decisions regarding legal matters;
  • Has very good editing skills and the ability to draft various types of legal documents with a high degree of accuracy and in accordance with the regulation;

Language: English and/or French (knowledge of both would be an asset).
