Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament’s accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. The Members' Attendance and Travel Expenses Unit is responsible for the entire management of Members' financial rights within its area of competence. It is in charge of receiving, verifying and paying Members' subsistence allowances, travel expenses and the fees relating to their professional training, in due time and in compliance with the rules in force.

 

Your tasks

  • Assistance in workflow for reimbursement of Members' travel and subsistence expenses, in particular for checks on invoices and payments;
  • Support in the preparation of dossiers related to travel and subsistence expenses and control of their legality, regularity and compliance with the current rules and regulations;
  • Support in ensuring that IT processes and developments run smoothly;
  • Make proposals to translate the unit's requirements into technical objectives for the IT development teams, whether internal or external;
  • Check that the solutions implemented meet the requirements analysed, working closely with the people involved;
  • Use data and other information to help the unit implement new strategies and procedures and make sound decisions.

 

You are

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Is dynamic with a taste for finance and with very good analytical and research skills, eager to learn and ready to take on challenges;
  • Is not only quick at grasping problems but is also creative in coming forward with solutions;
  • Has proven knowledge in the field of business analysis and able to support in various IT projects;
  • Manages advanced Excel and reporting tools such as Business Intelligence;
  • Is able to interpret complex data and extract relevant signals (this would be an advantage);
  • Is able to work in a team and collaborate with experts from other disciplines.

Language: English and/or French (knowledge of both would be an asset).
