Who we are

The Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences (DG LINC) is the multilingual conference service hub of the European Parliament. Our mission is to enable the European Parliament to achieve its political objectives by providing linguistic, technical and logistical support to meetings and conferences. Our services support the democratic legitimacy of the Institution by helping the Members of Parliament get their message across in any of the official languages. We thus enable the legislative process and make it accessible to the citizens of Europe. This makes DG LINC a very dynamic, collaborative, and unique place of work, with opportunities for connecting with different actors across the Parliament. If you like challenges and are customer-minded then DG LINC could be a great place for you to do a traineeship.

Unit for the Recruitment of Auxiliary Conference Interpreters (The ACI Recruitment Unit) is responsible for contracting freelance interpreters (ACIs - conference interpreting agents) in order to meet the interpretation needs of the European Parliament. ACIs are recruited on the basis of the recruitment criteria established by DG LINC, and can be assigned to all types of meetings, ranging from the high-level bilateral meetings to multilingual parliamentary sessions and other meetings in the EP's places of work as well as the missions outside the three places of work. We are a team of nine people and we work closely together, relying also on the input from and communication with other units involved in DG LINC operations.

Your tasks

As a recruitment assistant, you will provide assistance to a recruiter in charge of engaging freelance interpreters for specific weeks of the EP Calendar of meetings. This involves working in our IT system, through which you will introduce recruitment requests and offers for the selected ACIs. More importantly, you will be in charge of following up on these requests and offers through direct contact with ACIs via different channels (email, sms, phone etc.). You will also be responsible for managing the ACI recruitment mailbox (file keeping).

You are

  • You combine an interest in language services and event management with an interest in human resources and relations;
  • You are flexible, reactive and ready to work under pressure when the dynamic environment of the EP so requires;
  • You have excellent communications skills with a passion for languages, and you are a staunch believer in the EU multilingualism.
