Who we are

If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection and outreach, recruitment, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salaries, allowances, pension rights;
  • Health, prevention and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication on staff matters across the institution.

The team of the Director-General for Personnel assists her in all matters relating to the responsibility of DG PERS as described above. You will be fully integrated in a small and dedicated team, working jointly from Luxembourg and Brussels, while you will be based in Brussels. We highly value diversity and warmly encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

Your tasks

Tasks of our trainee include:

  • Preparing, participating in and following up on various meetings e.g. with the DG PERS Management and Enlarged Management Teams;

  • Assisting in replying to individual questions by MEPs and staff members or the spokesperson's service;
  • Assisting in preparing DG PERS replies for the discharge procedures, and in reporting on the work of the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Budgetary Control.

We are looking forward to hearing from you!
