Who we are

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

We are the Trainee Outreach and Recruitment Unit and we are in charge of "Schuman" and "MEP" traineeships in the European Parliament. These are traineeships in the Secretariat of the European Parliament and traineeships with Members of the European Parliament respectively.

More specifically, we oversee the application and recruitment process of Schuman trainees, in collaboration with all the Directorates-General and we take care of the recruitment of MEP trainees upon request of Members.

We also deal with all aspects related to the administrative matters of trainees, as well as providing them with all the necessary information and support. In addition, we are responsible for promoting our traineeship schemes on social media and through different outreach events, such as career seminars and job fairs.

 

Your tasks

Your tasks will be:

  • Acting as a reference for Schuman trainees in the European Parliament, dealing with their daily queries and guiding them in their administrative processes;
  • Participating in all the administrative tasks of the Trainee Outreach and Recruitment Unit such as managing the study visits programme etc.;
  • Assisting with the organisation of the Welcome Session for incoming trainees;
  • Organising the elections for the Schuman Trainees' Committee (STC) in Brussels and acting as their main point of reference in the unit;
  • Coordinating events and activities offered to trainees, and contributing to the creation of new projects;
  • Analysing and writing reports on trainees’ satisfaction surveys;
  • Participating in the recruitment process of future Schuman trainees: screening applications, performing eligibility checks etc.;
  • Communicating with and answering inquiries from external parties, such as future applicants;
  • Drafting guides and internal communications. 

 

You are

If you:

  • Are a proactive person who enjoys being in touch with people;
  • Have good organisational skills both for administrative matters and social events;
  • Have an excellent command of English and/or French, any other EU language is an asset;
  • Know how to prioritise tasks in a demanding and changing environment;
  • Are willing to improve your skills and acquire new ones while working with a highly motivated team;
  • Are able to respect deadlines;
  • Are proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and interested in learning new IT tools.
