This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament, and assisting Members in their communication activities.
The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
The Editorial Coordination Unit, placed directly under the responsibility of the Director-General ensures the coordination of communication output on all official Parliament accounts through the Editorial Committee, composed by members of all editorial units throughout the DG COMM.
The unit is responsible for the planning of communication actions and for making sure products are in line with the priorities of the DG, and it advises the Director-General on the editorial priorities. The unit works closely together with the Strategy and Innovation Unit.
Your tasks
- Assisting the team members in the unit with the coordination of the editorial work;
- Preparing and following up the weekly Editorial Committee meetings: drafting minutes, follow-up with services, updating a very active Confluence/Sharepoint space;
- Writing briefs and summaries on events and webinars;
- Drafting speeches, speaking points and presentations for the Director-General;
- Assisting with internal communication - writing articles, internal emails, internal communication strategies;
- Proofreading documents in English/French;
- Advising regarding publications on social media - mainly X;
- Tracking of and reporting on communication activities of the whole Directorate General
You are
We are looking for a highly motivated, versatile candidate who is eager to join and support a small busy team.
He/she should have the following experience/skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as proven people/soft skills;
- Excellent command of English with a good command of French;
- Excellent organisational and planning skills;
- Good command of Confluence and/or Sharepoint;
- Proficiency in the use of social media, especially X;
- Proactive and slightly perfectionist work attitude as well as the capacity to work autonomously;
- Previous experience in coordination tasks or working transversally would be an asset;
- Previous experience as a journalist or in communication would be an asset;
