Who we are

The European Parliament stands for European democracy. We help connect it to people.

This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament (EP), and assisting Members in their communication activities. The Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

Visiting the European Parliament is a unique opportunity for citizens to learn how European democracy works, how decisions taken by the EP are relevant to their daily life and how they can have a say in such decisions. It is also an opportunity for the EP to engage in a direct way with EU citizens. Different activities, such as events, temporary exhibitions and role-play games cater to the various interests of our visitors, whether families, young people, seniors or school groups. The activities for visitors are managed by the Directorate for Visitors.

The Visitors Services Coordination Unit (VSCU) is responsible for transversal coordination within the Directorate for Visitors. From promoting the visitor offer to keeping in touch after the visit, improving the visitor experience is the main goal of the VSCU. Innovation is at the heart of our work, as the unit is also responsible for projects such as the Digital Journey to the EP, the Parliament’s Role-Play-Game and flagship events like Europe Day.
