Who we are

The Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (DG ITEC) provides the European Parliament with information and communications technology services as well as document production, printing and distribution services. The Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (DG ITEC) uses innovation and technology to support the European Parliament in its legislative work as well as Members, Political Groups and staff in their day-to-day activities.

Procurement and Contracts Management Unit (PAC unit) provides advice and assistance to authorizing officers and operational services in the Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (DG ITEC) in the areas of public procurement and contracts.

The Contracts Administration Service within the PAC unit (CAD service) is engaged in fulfilling the mission of the Unit especially by overseeing the contract management and ensuring correct and harmonised execution of IT contracts and high quality of files concerning the implementation of contracts. 

The CAD service is currently working on a project to acquire and implement a dedicated IT tool (NESS) to support the contract management process by automating and including AI features in the ordering and contracting process. According to the current planning, the IT system should be acquired in early 2025 and customised during the 1st semester 2025.

 

Your tasks

The future Schuman trainee shall be part of the CAD service. The trainee shall assist the team with the final stage of the implementation of the NESS project and specifically the activities below: 

  • Testing of the proposed tool and its compliance with requested functionalities;
  • Customising the tool to the framework contracts in force;
  • Based on the testing and customisation of the tool, preparation of communication to the final users related to use of the tool (presentations, guidelines, FAQ);
  • Helping the final users with executing their first transactions;        
  • Other tasks linked to IT contract administration.

The exact activities will depend on the stage of the implementation of the project during the time of the traineeship. 

 

You are

  • You have a university degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Database Management, Business Administration or similar; 
  • You have previous experience in IT project implementation (business analysis, testing, user support) would constitute an advantage;
  • You have good communication skills, as the project requires interaction with stakeholders from different units;
  • The working language is English, knowledge of French is welcome but not necessary for the project implementation;
  • You have interest in public procurement and/or contract management.
