The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

The Luxembourg Medical Service offers services to European Parliament’s staff in the field of occupational, statutory, preventive, general and emergency medicine in Luxembourg and Strasbourg and plays an important role in medical crisis preparedness and response.

 

Your tasks

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team composed of medical officers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and (medico-)administrative staff. The medical service has a broad range of activities that include primary care and preventive medicine, emergency medicine and preparedness for major incidents, travel medicine and psychosocial support.

Depending on your previous training and experience, you will:

  • Assist the medical or social work team with various advisory and administrative tasks;
  • Staff the welcome desk;
  • Assist in preparing and updating electronic medical files and related correspondence;
  • Help organise medical visits, as well as their administrative and nursing follow-up and providing information to clients;
  • Provide administrative and medical assistance to the medical officers and the Head of Unit, including the organisation and follow-up of meetings;
  • Encode and verify data (for instance check invoices and reimbursement requests, deal with medical files).

You will work in a team and receive proper training.

 

You are

The candidate trainee must have a high degree of flexibility and the ability to carry out different tasks in parallel.

The position requires:

  • A university-level degree in social work, psychology, nursing, occupational health or a related specialty;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Good listening skills;
  • An absolute level of confidentiality (medical secret and data protection);
  • Very good interpersonal skills;
  • A good command of computer applications is essential;
  • For functional reasons, a very good knowledge of English and French (spoken and written);
  • Knowledge in the fields of nursing, occupational medicine or other experience in the medical sector would be an important asset;
  • An interest in European affairs and a flair for working in a multicultural context.
