Your tasks

The Policy Team is responsible for the work of the European Parliament President relating to EU policies and legislation including on competitiveness, external relations, climate, energy, digital, migration and rule of law.

The trainee will perform the following tasks:

  • Research the latest developments on EU legislative files;
  • Assist in the drafting of briefings for the President's meetings relating to EU policies;
  • Assist in the preparation of correspondence concerning EU legislation;
  • Participate in committee meetings and prepare minutes;
  • Draft analysis of committee and plenary votes in Parliament;
  • Provide support to the Cabinet policies team in their daily tasks.

 

You are

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic trainee with an interest in EU decision making and legislation to assist the Policies Team in the Cabinet of the European Parliament President.

Essential:

  • Excellent organisational skills, flexibility and ability to work with deadlines;
  • Language proficiency in English, both written and orally is highly desirable. Any other EU languages would be an asset;
  • Preferable background would be in the domain of Political Sciences, Law or Social sciences;
  • Openness to work in a multicultural and fast-paced environment and in a team with good degree of personal autonomy;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented and a meticulous approach pro-active, motivated, curious, innovative and be able to switch with relative ease on different topics;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (including Outlook).

Desirable:

Knowledge of the EU institutions and understanding of EU decision-making.
