Your tasks

The Communication and Press relations team is responsible for the President’s press relations, communication, social media, outreach and speech writing.

The trainee will perform the following tasks:

  • Press reviews and media monitoring;
  • Analysis of media content;
  • Drafting of briefings, background notes and defensives;
  • Transcription of speeches and interviews;
  • Covering press conferences;
  • Drafting interview responses;
  • Preparing content for social media;
  • Background research;
  • Basic speech and article writing.

 

You are

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated candidate who is passionate about the EU and enthusiastic about experiencing how the European Parliament functions, including through the lens of the activities carried out by the President's Media and Communication Team.

Essential:

  • Excellent organisational skills, flexibility and ability to work with deadlines;
  • Openness to working in a multicultural and fast-paced environment and in a team with a good degree of personal autonomy;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Good drafting skills;
  • Language proficiency in English, both written and orally, is highly desirable. Abilities in other official European languages are an asset;
  • Detail-oriented and a meticulous approach;
  • Being pro-active, motivated, curious, innovative and being able to switch with relative ease on different topics;
  • Preferable background would be in the domain of Communication, Journalism, Political Science or EU Studies.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the EU institutions and understanding of EU decision-making;
  • Previous experience in communication;
  • Good understanding of social media.
