Who we are

The Directorate-General for Internal Policies of the Union (DG IPOL) is responsible for organising the work of the Parliament’s committees dealing with the EU’s internal policies, and for assisting Members in the exercise of the legislative, budgetary and oversight powers conferred upon the European Parliament.

The Secretariat of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) supports the Members of the committee in their daily legislative and scrutiny work in the field of Justice and Home Affairs (from the organisation of committee meetings, the provision of advice on rules and legislative procedures, support in codecision legislative negotiations, support to the Chair and Coordinators,  provision of briefing and feedback notes, etc.).

LIBE deals with i.e. legislative proposals in the field of Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) including migration and asylum, border management, police cooperation, security and the fight against terrorism, judicial cooperation in criminal matters, fundamental rights including data protection, combating discrimination and the rule of law.
