Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. Of particular importance will be the next European elections for which DG FINS will be a front liner. DG FINS consists of 16 Units organised in three Directorates and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. Your tasks

As a trainee working in the Director-General’s cabinet, you will collaborate closely with the Director-General's advisers, contributing mainly to strategic and communication related subjects. In this role, you will assist in various projects, such as developing DG FINS' strategy and innovation, positioning DG FINS as an increasing environmental player in Parliament’s milieu or fostering an even more client-oriented approach of DG FINS' relations with Members. You will also collaborate with DG FINS’ communication agency on topics including intranet, social media, events and campaigns. Your inclination for thinking outside the box, writing or copywriting, and public relations will be crucial. By joining DG FINS, you will help us change our dimension. Reversely, it will be  an exciting challenge for you. You will take on an active and concrete role in it.

 

You are

You should have:

  • A high intellectual and solid university knowledge;
  • A strong interest in general culture, including the history of the European Union, political science and international relations;
  • The ability to grasp complex problems quickly;
  • A taste for communication and public relations, drafting notes and articles;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English;
  • Loyalty and strict compliance with the rules of confidentiality;
  • Autonomy, with a strong sense of initiative, organisation and a questioning mind;
  • The ability to analyse, synthesise and report;
  • The ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under time pressure.
