Who we are

The Directorate-General for Internal Policies of the Union (DG IPOL) is responsible for organising the work of the Parliament’s committees dealing with the EU’s internal policies, and for assisting Members in the exercise of the legislative, budgetary and oversight powers conferred upon the European Parliament.

The Secretariat of the Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) is looking for a trainee with a legal background to join its small and dynamic team. The Secretariat assists the Committee and its Members in the legislative and non-legislative activities of JURI. During the period of October 2024-February 2025 the successful candidate will assist in the organisation of Commissioners hearings and in developing the position of the Committee on important legislative files with an opportunity to be part of the legislative process at the Committee, Parliament and possibly inter-institutional level.

Your tasks

Your tasks will be:

  • To assist in the legislative procedure at the Committee, Parliament and possibly inter-institutional level;
  • To assist in preparation of Committee decisions with regards to certain horizontal areas of its competence, such as legal basis or disputes;
  • To assist in the organisation of Commissioners hearings at the level of a parliamentary committee.

  • Have a legal background and are interested in parliamentary law and procedures and in institutional questions.
