Who we are

The Directorate-General for Internal Policies of the Union (DG IPOL) is responsible for organising the work of the Parliament’s committees dealing with the EU’s internal policies, and for assisting Members in the exercise of the legislative, budgetary and oversight powers conferred upon the European Parliament.

The Secretariat of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) supports the Members of the committee in their daily legislative & non-legislative work around:

  • The definition, promotion and protection of women's rights in te Union and related Union measures; 
  • The promotion of women's rights in third countries;
  • Equal opportunities policy, including the promotion of equality between men and women with regard to labour market opportunities and treatment at work;
  • The removal of all forms of violence and discrimination based on sex;
  • The implementation and further development of gender mainstreaming in all policy sectors;
  • The follow-up and implementation of international agreements and conventions involving the rights of women;
  • The encouragement of awareness of women's rights.

 

Your tasks

You will be responsible for assisting the Committees Administrators and Assistants in their day-to-day duties involving committee work.

These tasks include:

  • Conducting research and preparing background documentation and information notes;
  • Providing administrative support for Committee meetings and Committee public hearings;
  • Assisting with the organisation of Committee missions and other events;
  • Assisting with the smooth daily running of the Committee Secretariat as regards practical arrangements and information flow to and from the Secretariat;
  • Dealing with incoming communication of the Secretariat via both telephone an emails.

 

You are

  • Passionate, motivated and proactive young graduate who can work independently but also as part of an international team; 
  • Familiar with the rules and policies of the European Parliament;
  • Multilingual and open to a multicultural environment;
  • Dynamic and enthusiastic about gender equality issues;
  • Able to communicate, professional and confidential;
  • Able to summarize content concisely and identify relevant sources of information as to the corresponding work of the different EU Institutions and/or national authorities;
  • Attentive to detail and accurate, flexible and proactive in solving problems;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Outlook.
