Who we are

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality and diversity;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

The Brussels Medical Service offers services to Members and the European Parliament’s staff in the field of occupational, statutory, preventive, general and emergency medicine in Brussels and Strasbourg.

 

Your tasks

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team composed of medical advisors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and (medico-)administrative staff and will have a particular responsibility.

This includes, among others:

  • Performing various file manager tasks;
  • Reception welcome function;
  • Preparing and updating (electronic) medical files and related correspondence;
  • Organising medical visits as well as administrative follow-up and providing information to clients;
  • Providing administrative assistance to the medical advisors and the Head of Unit, including the organisation and follow-up of meetings;
  • Encoding and verifying data (for instance checking invoices and reimbursement requests).

You will work in a team and will receive proper training.

 

You are

The candidate trainee must have a high degree of flexibility and the ability to carry out different tasks in parallel.

The position requires:

  • Strong listening skills;
  • A high degree of confidentiality (medical secrecy and data protection);
  • Rigour and good interpersonal skills;
  • A good command of computer applications is essential;
  • For functional reasons, a very good knowledge of English or French (spoken and written); a very good knowledge of both languages is an important asset;
  • Administrative knowledge related to occupational medicine or experience in a medical secretariat would be an important asset.
