Who we are

The Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics (DG INLO) contributes to the effective technical and administrative management of infrastructure and logistics (catering, mail, removals, furniture, transport, etc.) within and between the Parliament's workplaces. Our DG is also responsible for managing the equipment and services necessary for the functionality of these buildings. Through their efforts, the staff of DG INLO provides essential support for the European Parliament's political activities.

Within the Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics, the Strategy and Innovation Unit establishes a specific framework for innovation and strategic planning.

 

Your tasks

Within the Strategy and Innovation Unit of the Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics, the trainee will contribute to the rationalisation and management of innovative processes and strategic planning necessary to achieve the DG’s objectives.

The mission of the future trainee comes in particular in the context of the initiatives taken within the Directorate-General to intensify active social and circular participation, giving a second life to Parliament’s currently unvalued but extremely valuable resources which can still be reused, shared, renovated and recycled.

In addition, the trainee could also be called upon to contribute to the preparatory work necessary for the development of a multiannual strategy for the consolidation of the European Parliament’s buildings heritage, taking particular account of the EU objective of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions ‘Fit for-55’ and the legislative framework on energy efficiency and building performance. Within the Strategy and Innovation Unit, which is directly attached to the Director-General, the trainee will also be in contact with the other directorates and units of the Directorate-General as part of his/her duties. 

 

You are

In order to respond effectively to the responsibilities and challenges of this traineeship in the Strategy and Innovation Unit of the Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics, the profile of the ideal candidate could be described as follows: 

  • Studies or previous experience (traineeships, academic projects, volunteering) in areas related to innovation, strategy, project management, public administration, environmental management or any other relevant discipline would be particularly appreciated;
  • An understanding of policies related to energy efficiency, environmental legislation, sustainable development initiatives, regulations on greenhouse gas emissions and energy performance of buildings would be an asset;
  • A strong interest in sustainable development, recycling and resource management, sustainability and innovation;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in French and English;
  • Good grasp of current IT tools;
  • Ability to contribute to the planning and implementation of innovative projects;
  • Ability to work in a team and to establish relationships with different units and directorates;
  • Ability to present ideas in a clear and persuasive manner;
  • Adaptability and openness to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
