Who we are

An administrative entity within the European Parliament's Secretariat-General, the Staff Committee interacts with all structures and services across its Strasbourg, Luxembourg, and Brussels sites.

The Staff Committee acts as a bridge between the European Parliament's staff and the institution itself. We champion staff interests and keep communication flowing. We ensure a smooth workplace by giving staff a voice. Our work is guided by the Staff Regulations of Officials of the European Communities and the Parliament's own rules.

Comprised of 29 elected members, the Staff Committee serves as a vital consultative body to the European Parliament for the entirety of its term. The Bureau of the Staff Committee consists of the President, several Vice-Presidents and the Political Secretary.

Ever wondered how the European Parliament truly functions? An internship at the Staff Committee offers an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain a privileged perspective on the inner workings of this influential institution. You will go beyond the headlines and tourist tours to witness the Parliament in action, not just from the top down, but also from the crucial vantage point of the dedicated staff who make it all happen. This unique experience will provide you with a well-rounded understanding of the complex interplay between policy, administration, and the people who drive it forward.

Interpreting the Staff Regulations: The Staff Committee ensures clear interpretation and application of the rules governing staff at the European Parliament. It can raise concerns with relevant bodies and is consulted on new regulations.

Improving Working Conditions: The Committee advocates for better working conditions and proposes improvements to the organisation and functioning of the institution's services.

Participating in Decision-Making: The Staff Committee actively participate in various administrative and inter-institutional bodies, influencing decisions and managing social services for staff well-being. Additionally, they have the authority to propose the creation of new staff welfare services with the institution's agreement.
