Who we are

The Directorate-General for Parliamentary Democracy Partnerships (DG PART) is a Directorate-General created with the objective to streamline the promotion and upholding of parliamentary democracy in Europe and beyond, by fostering cooperation with national parliaments and coordinating efforts made by the Parliament liaison offices and representations outside the European Union.

The Innovation and Partnership Development Unit is a horizontal Unit, responsible for the development of new initiatives, concepts and partnerships within and outside the EU - in line with the overall mission of DG PART. It also plays a central role in identifying and implementing synergies across the various services within DG PART, as well as between DG PART and other Directorate-Generals of the European Parliament, EU institutions and international organisations.

 

Your tasks

The trainee will be tasked with assisting the Unit's staff in their duties, inter alia:

  • Organising activities in general;
  • Coordinating and cooperating with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Providing written contributions, e.g. speeches, presentations, briefings, letters and notes;
  • Conducting research and analysis and preparing concise reports;
  • Attending and preparing feedback notes from meetings of the European Parliament's political bodies as well as from external conferences;
  • Providing operational support as necessary.

Horizontal tasks involving work with other entities in the Directorate-General can be expected.

The trainee should rapidly acquire a good knowledge of Parliament's structure and functioning, in order to contribute to tasks linked to partnership development, in interaction with other Units in DG PART and other Directorates-General.

Some tasks of a practical and administrative nature can be expected, especially in view of the fact that the Unit and the Directorate-General are entirely new structures.

 

You are

The successful candidate will possess at least a bachelor's or a master's degree in a field relevant to the field of activity of the Unit, e.g. international relations, and should:

  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Have excellent drafting skills in English;
  • Be able to communicate efficiently and tactfully with stakeholders both inside and outside the European Parliament;
  • Have a good sense of situational judgment;
  • Be well-organised and able to comply with deadlines.
