Who we are

The Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences (DG LINC) is the European Parliament’s multilingual conference service hub and a global leader in the field of conference interpretation and management. We support the democratic legitimacy of the Institution by helping Members of Parliament to get their message across in any of the official EU languages, thus enabling the legislative process and making it accessible to the citizens of Europe. This makes DG LINC a very dynamic and collaborative place to work, offering various opportunities for connecting internally and with all those taking part in the legislative process. If you like a challenge and are a team player, DG LINC could be a great place for you to do a traineeship.

The Interpreter Support and Training Unit is a small unit of 12 people, organised in two teams: the Training Team creates and organises learning opportunities for interpreters  in a wide range of areas, from languages to general background knowledge, current issues in EU member states and  EU current affairs. The Documentation Team puts together meeting documentation for interpreters and supports the creation of specific preparation material on topical legislative files.

We take an individual approach, looking at every interpreter and his or her learning history. Workshops, external stays, distance learning via webinars and the creation of e-learning courses are some of our activities, which we constantly adapt to new needs and changed circumstances. Preparing interpreters to work with new technologies (use of AI, RSI ) is also part of our remit. Testing and improving the accessibility of our products and IT systems is another significant component of our work.

Discussing new ideas, working out the practical details and taking care of the logistics is how the team works, backing each other up when the need arises. We are a friendly, open and multi-cultural team and want to make sure you benefit from your traineeship with us.

Your tasks

You will participate in the tasks of the team and support it in all logistics aspects of the training courses we organise. This will involve participant management and setting up of training sessions, also on online distance-learning platforms.

Doing research on training topics, or background material for meetings and turning it into a presentable format will be another of your tasks, as will be document management tasks related to this material. During plenary sessions you will assist the Documentation Team in managing incoming speaking points for interpreting teams. We may also ask you to take part in the recording of audio or video material for training, writing scripts or organising recording sessions.
