Who we are
The Directorate-General for Security and Safety (DG SAFE) ensures the safety and security of the persons, buildings and assets within the European Parliament’s premises. In addition, it commits to provide high-quality security services by developing modern working methods, digitalised processes and using state-of-the-art technologies and equipment.
The Access and Visitors Unit of DG SAFE is responsible for issuing access passes to Members, Assistants, staff and visitors to Parliament. The Unit manages general and specific access rights to the Institution's premises, working in close cooperation with other units and directorates of DG SAFE, as well as with other EU institutions and bodies whose access credentials are recognised by Parliament. By ensuring the implementation of the Access Rules and their implementing measures, the Unit aims at providing an efficient service to people entering Parliament's buildings at its multiple reception points.
Your tasks
- Welcome, inform and guide the different members of the public arriving at the European Parliament’s reception points, ensuring a professional, courteous and efficient service;
- Answer visitors’ questions and provide them with the necessary information regarding access to the buildings and the relevant services;
- Identify and consider the specific needs of certain members of the public, in particular persons with disabilities, older persons, children and groups of visitors;
- Verify the information required for the issuance of an access pass, in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures;
- Consult, enter, verify and update the data required for processing access requests in the IT applications used by the Unit;
- Participate in the preparation, production and distribution of badges and other access passes;
- Ensure compliance with access procedures and applicable restrictions and refer any complex request or unusual situation to the appropriate colleagues;
- Contribute to the smooth organisation of reception areas and the management of visitor flows, particularly during periods of high attendance;
- Participate, as part of the rotation of duties, in the Unit’s various front-office activities and front-office posts;
- Provide support during events, group visits or other activities organised on the European Parliament’s premises, with welcoming and guiding visitors and distributing badges;
- Provide, on an occasional basis and according to the needs of the service, administrative support for the processing and follow-up of accreditation requests and the management of the Unit’s functional mailboxes.

We are looking for a dynamic, versatile and service-oriented person with good interpersonal skills who enjoys interacting with a wide range of people in an international and multicultural environment.
The successful candidate should demonstrate professionalism, courtesy and patience, be able to work effectively as part of a team and remain calm and responsive when faced with unexpected situations or during periods of high attendance.
A good command of French and/or English is required; knowledge of another official language of the European Union is an asset. Confidence in using IT applications and Microsoft Office is also expected.
The successful candidate must have obtained a Vocational education qualification (EQF level 3, 4 or 5) or a University degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
