Who we are

If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, the DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

The DG PERS Communication Service manages all communication matters concerning human resources within the Parliament. The four-person team is responsible for two important internal media products, Newshound and PERSnet, and email communication to Parliament staff.

Newshound is the European Parliament’s internal e-magazine (its “corporate newsletter”). Sent to all EP staff by email every Wednesday, it covers life in and around the institution, on a variety of topics including the inner workings of the administration, the people who work here and Parliament’s values.

PERSnet is the intranet site of DG PERS, housing important information about Parliament’s human resources, the roles of DG PERS units and services, and news and resources for the DG’s staff members.
