Who we are

If you would like to gain experience in the field of human resources within a large multicultural organisation such as the European Parliament, apply for one of the traineeships in DG PERS!

The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.

More specifically, DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:

  • Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
  • Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
  • Protection and well-being at work;
  • Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
  • Management of trainees;
  • Internal communication in the institution.

This post is situated in the Learning and Development Unit. Our mission is to offer learning and development (L&D) solutions to a highly qualified workforce that support MEPs. We believe that L&D plays a key role in the European Parliament to ensure a resilient and effective European democracy. This traineeship will offer you the opportunity to explore the L&D activities in the EP.

 

Your tasks

During your traineeship, you will:

  • Help develop and deliver the communication and engagement approach for the new EP competency framework;
  • Turn complex HR concepts into clear, accessible and engaging stories for staff, managers and HR professionals;
  • Design communication campaigns from concept to delivery, adapting messages, channels and formats to different audiences;
  • Create compelling visual and digital content, such as infographics, presentations, explainers, campaign materials and multimedia content on your own or in cooperation with internal COM units;
  • Support internal events, presentations, workshops and other engagement activities;
  • Develop practical stories and use cases showing how competencies can support career development, learning, recruitment and mobility;
  • Contribute to the communication and user experience of new competency-based digital tools and services;
  • Monitor feedback and engagement and use insights to improve communication activities.

 

You are

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have a strong interest in communication, storytelling, digital content or visual design;
  • Can turn complex information into simple and engaging messages;
  • Have a good eye for visual communication and can demonstrate this through previous work, including academic, voluntary or personal projects;
  • Are comfortable using visual and digital communication tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Canva or equivalent;
  • Write clearly and confidently in English; French would be an advantage;
  • Have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
  • Enjoy presenting ideas and engaging with different audiences;
  • Are curious about HR, learning, organisational development or the future of work;
  • Take initiative, learn quickly and enjoy turning ideas into tangible results.


A background in communication, graphic or digital design, marketing, journalism, multimedia or a related area would be particularly relevant, but we are equally interested in what you can demonstrate through your work and ideas.
