Who we are
As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.
We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
The European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) in Ireland provides non-partisan information to citizens, media and stakeholders about the work and role of the European Parliament and its Members. We assist MEPs in communicating to national and European audiences and help to promote their institutional activities. We welcome visitor groups to the EPLO to learn about the EU, in particular at our Europa Experience interactive visitor centre. Our activities include discussions on EU policies and issues organised by ourselves, or with partners, as well as cultural events. We build networks with stakeholders and citizens and make a particular effort to reach out to students and young people, including through a number of EU-wide programmes aimed at schools. We host press briefings, respond to media queries, and maintain an active online presence.
Your tasks
- Monitor and analyse Irish national and regional media;
- Prepare materials for journalists in Ireland, including press releases and newsletters;
- Monitor and analyse social media of relevance to the EP and EU in Ireland;
- Plan, generate and manage content for EPLO Ireland social media channels;
- Keep EPLO Ireland media databases up to date;
- Assist with planning and running conferences and events, online and offline.
You are
- Native-level in both spoken and written English; a good knowledge of Irish an advantage;
- Experienced in working with or in print, online or broadcast media;
- Proficient in the use of social media platforms;
- Familiar with political and media developments in Ireland;
- A team player, creative, reliable, adaptable and with strong interpersonal skills;
- Experienced in creating social media visuals; video editing is an advantage.
Please note that to be eligible to this traineeship post you must have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
