Youth Outreach Unit - Post C: European Charlemagne Youth Prize

The Youth Outreach Unit aims to build platforms for dialogue between young people, youth organisations, educators and educational organisations and the European Parliament, promoting active citizenship and encouraging young people to take part in democratic processes and elections. With a transversal function, the Youth Outreach Unit also streamlines the youth and educational offer across Parliament, in collaboration with units responsible for different activities. Building up a pan-European permanent online and offline youth community, the unit is also responsible for managing the biennial EYE (European Youth Event) and other offline and online interactive activities involving young people all over Europe.  

Every year, the European Charlemagne Youth Prize (ECYP) is awarded to youth-led projects that foster democracy, promote active citizenship and bring communities together. During your traineeship you will: 

• Support the organisation and implementation of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize throughout the project cycle;
• Prepare project documentation and briefing materials for the national and European Jury meetings;
• Liaise with the 27 European Parliament Liaison Offices (EPLOs) and coordinate the nomination of national winners;
• Communicate with selected participants and coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements;
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of the Winners Week programme in Aachen, including providing on-site support and facilitating workshops;
• Contribute to the follow-up and evaluation of the project, including analysing participants' feedback and preparing recommendations for future editions;
• Support the organisation of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize activities at the EYE (European Youth Event);
• Assist the Youth Outreach Unit with editing, proofreading and translating materials, as well as other tasks related to the Unit's activities.

• Someone who has obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact regularly with colleagues, partners and participants;
• An excellent command of spoken and written English; knowledge of German or other languages is an asset;
• Well-organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain an overview while paying attention to detail;
• Digitally proficient, comfortable with IT tools (e.g. Excel, survey tools, applications management platforms); knowledge of specific event- or coordination-related tools is an asset;
• Interest in youth engagement, active citizenship and topics related to EU policies and democratic participation;
• Experience in event organisation and programme creation is an asset;
• A proactive and problem-solving mindset, with a willingness to contribute ideas and support the delivery of projects.
