Youth Outreach Unit - Post D: Educational engagement

Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

The Youth Outreach Unit aims to build platforms for dialogue between young people, youth organisations, educators and educational organisations and the European Parliament, promoting active citizenship and encouraging young people to take part in democratic processes and elections. With a transversal function, the Youth Outreach Unit also streamlines the youth and educational offer across Parliament, in collaboration with units responsible for different activities. Building up a pan-European permanent online and offline youth community, the unit is also responsible for managing the biennial EYE (European Youth Event) and other offline and online interactive activities involving young people all over Europe.  

• Contribute to our work with educators (formal and non-formal) by communicating with them, identifying relevant networks and opportunities, reaching out to new partners, and helping develop our growing educational community;
• Support the organisation of the annual Educators Event in spring 2027, including travel and accommodation arrangements for participants, communicating with selected participants, contributing to the programme of the event, and assisting the team during the event itself;
• Contribute to the revamp of the European Parliament’s educational offer, including collecting feedback from educators, reviewing learning resources, carrying out research, and contributing to the development of new resources;
• Support the rollout of EP learning resources by helping prepare promotional materials and organise training and outreach activities for educators, partners and colleagues - this includes editing, proofreading and translating (according to language skills) content for websites, newsletters, presentations and events;
• Assist the Youth Outreach Unit’s work with other European Parliament trainees, notably on translation and proofreading tasks.

• Someone who has obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
• A good communicator, as you will be in regular contact with colleagues and stakeholders and contribute to the development and editing of education- and youth-focused communication materials;
• An excellent command of spoken and written English; very good knowledge of German and/or French is an asset;
• A thorough worker, with an eye for detail whilst keeping the bigger picture in mind;
• Resilient and flexible, with the ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment whilst still meeting deadlines;
• A team-player while able to also work independently;
• Good at online research (educational events, projects, conferences etc.);
• Well-organised, with good logistical skills; experience in the organisation of (youth) events is an asset;
• Interested in topical issues related to EU politics and youth;
• At ease with IT tools (e.g. SharePoint, survey tools, databases); knowledge of specific event- or team-coordination tools is an asset;
• Actively engaged in educational activities; experience in the development of educational materials and training is an asset.
