Youth Outreach Unit - Post E: Euroscola programme

The Youth Outreach Unit aims to build platforms for dialogue between young people, youth organisations, educators and educational organisations and the European Parliament, promoting active citizenship and encouraging young people to take part in democratic processes and elections. With a transversal function, the Youth Outreach Unit also streamlines the youth and educational offer across Parliament, in collaboration with units responsible for different activities. Building up a pan-European permanent online and offline youth community, the unit is also responsible for managing the biennial EYE (European Youth Event) and other offline and online interactive activities involving young people all over Europe.  

Euroscola is a key youth programme of the European Parliament that encourages young people to take part in European democracy. It gives high school students from across Europe the chance to act as Members of the European Parliament for one day and discover how the Parliament in Strasbourg works. During the session, students debate, speak in public, share ideas, listen to others, find compromises, and vote on amendments. Each session brings together around 800 students and about 30 additional classes online, with up to 1,500 participants in total.

Your tasks will focus on preparing and supporting the Euroscola programme, working as part of a team of seven (location: Strasbourg): 

• Support the planning and delivery of Euroscola sessions, including operational, logistical, and administrative tasks;
• Edit and translate communication materials (depending on language skills), including website updates, newsletters, and event documents;
• Contribute to social media coverage and community management for Euroscola events;
• Assist in managing the platform for participants and teachers, including uploading content, monitoring updates, and providing support to teachers;
• Support communication and coordination with teachers, stakeholders, and internal services;
• Assist with on-site programme coordination, including welcome to participants, teachers’ activities, and event signage.

• Someone who has obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact regularly with colleagues and stakeholders, including parliamentary assistants and Members of the European Parliament;
• An excellent command of spoken and written English and French; knowledge of additional languages is an asset;
• Strong writing, editing, and research skills are essential;
• Interest in social media and staying up to date with trends, ability to create engaging content, including graphic design, video editing, presentations, and publications;
• Interest in current EU affairs and youth-related topics;
• Team-oriented and resilient, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently, meeting tight deadlines and maintaining a consistent pace;
• Creative mindset with strong problem-solving skills;
• Digitally proficient, with confidence in using IT tools such as SharePoint, survey tools, and databases; knowledge of event management or coordination tools is an asset.
