Youth Outreach Unit – Post A: EYE Programme (European Youth Event)

The Youth Outreach Unit aims to build platforms for dialogue between young people, youth organisations, educators and educational organisations and the European Parliament, promoting active citizenship and encouraging young people to take part in democratic processes and elections. With a transversal function, the Youth Outreach Unit also streamlines the youth and educational offer across Parliament, in collaboration with units responsible for different activities. Building up a pan-European permanent online and offline youth community, the unit is also responsible for managing the biennial EYE (European Youth Event) and other offline and online interactive activities involving young people all over Europe.  

• Support the organisation of the EYE2027 (European Youth Event) taking place on 18 and 19 June 2027, an event that brings together thousands of young people (aged 16-30 years old) from across the European Union and beyond at the European Parliament in Strasbourg (participating in meetings, writing minutes, drafting emails, preparing presentations, contributing with ideas, doing research);
• Help set up the programme of EYE2027 (researching and proposing young speakers and moderators, assisting in the development of activity scripts);
• Contribute to liaising with activity organisers, the logistics contractor and other event stakeholders (preparing practical information, administering and updating of various databases and online platforms, helping with registration and accreditation for the event, replying to queries);
• Assist in the implementation of the programme during EYE2027 on-site (supporting activity organisers in the organisation of their activity, follow the event and evaluate the activities, help throughout the event with various tasks);
• Support the development and implementation of the “Hemicycle Hub”, a physical space for young participants and youth organisations to share and network at EYE2027 (coming up with ways to engage young people, assisting in the outreach to stakeholders, support with scheduling);
• Assist with the evaluation of EYE2027 (design of evaluation surveys, feedback via different focus groups and stakeholder meetings, compilation of the feedback for reporting purposes);
• Editing and translation of communication material according to language skills from English into French, German, Spanish, Italian or Polish and vice versa (email to the EYE community, website texts).

• Someone who has obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
• A good communicator - you will be in regular contact with colleagues and a variety of stakeholders and contribute to the development and editing of youth-focused communication materials;
• A strong writer and researcher - you have excellent written English and very good writing, editing, and research skills, including drafting programme content and identifying relevant youth events, projects, and policy developments - very good knowledge of French and/or German is an asset;
• Knowledgeable about EU affairs - you are interested in topical issues related to EU politics and youth, with a good familiarity with EU policies;
• Well-organised and detail-oriented - you manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain an overview while paying attention to detail;
• Resilient and a team-player - you are comfortable in fast-paced environments, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively while also working independently;
• Digitally proficient - you are comfortable with IT tools (e.g. SharePoint, survey tools, databases); knowledge of event or coordination-related tools is an asset.
