Strasbourg Visits Unit – Post A: Visits and events

As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

Visiting the European Parliament enables citizens to build a direct relationship with the European institutions. The visiting facilities in Strasbourg are aimed at many audiences, including families, young people and the educational sector. Different activities, such as exhibitions and role-play games, cater to various interests, whether academic or curious. 

The Strasbourg Visits Unit serves as a contact point for citizens and visitors at the seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. It liaises with local and regional authorities, international organisations based in Strasbourg and the diplomatic corps. Our Strasbourg Social Media channels help promote all our divers actions and open up a digital way to engage with citizens from the border region and all over Europe. During your traineeship, you will be able to discover different projects and facets of the European Parliament’s external communication work. 

• Help plan and elaborate our visitors’ offer (including exhibitions);
• Participate in the organisation of other European and cross-border events, as well as youth events;
• Assist with organising visits, guided tours and exhibitions for citizens in several languages;
• Draft input for communication; 
• Participate in regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders. 

• Someone who has obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship; 
• An excellent communicator both orally and in writing, with great attention for detail;
• Experienced or strongly interested in visitors and citizens relations, event management and intercultural communication; 
• Ideally, fluent in French and German, as well as in English;
• Interested in European affairs, cultural and youth events; 
• A team player who enjoys working as part of a dynamic unit;
• Creative, curious and enjoy developing new ways of communicating;
• Flexible and enjoy working on a variety of subjects.
