The Directorate-General for Personnel (DG PERS) is broadly responsible for managing the human resources of the European Parliament's Secretariat, so that it can provide the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with the assistance they need to fulfil their mandate.
More specifically, the DG PERS manages the different groups of staff throughout their career, in areas such as:
- Selection, recruitment, entry, training, career development;
- Management of rights and obligations, salary, allowances, pension rights;
- Protection and well-being at work;
- Strategies to improve and promote equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Management of trainees;
- Internal communication in the institution.
We are the Directorate for HR Support and Social Services, and we coordinate seven specialised departments working across occupational health, work-life balance, quality and safety of work life, equality, inclusion and diversity. You will be a member of a small team, consisting of director, advisor and assistant, and will collaborate closely with colleagues from all departments acting under the direct responsibility of the Directorate.
Our mission is to design, develop, and implement projects and policies that promote workplace health, well‑being, safety and inclusivity, ensuring that the working environment is conducive to staff fulfilment and performance. We actively monitor and integrate best practices in our fields of competence and propose innovative, forward‑looking solutions that foster modern and flexible working conditions, reflecting the Parliament’s commitment to care, respect, and support for its staff. We create policies that strengthen a culture of non‑discrimination, inclusivity, acceptance, and psychological safety, enabling each staff member to contribute their strengths and be supported throughout their work life.
Your tasks
Your tasks will be:
- Assisting the Director and her team in coordination tasks, including the implementation of workplace health and well‑being initiatives, equality and diversity policies, and contributing directly to specific departmental projects when required;
- Preparing communication content such as articles, news updates, and awareness‑raising materials that highlight the Directorate’s work and promote its services;
- Conducting research and drafting briefings on topics relevant to the Directorate, including monitoring developments, identifying best practices, and proposing innovative solutions to strengthen modern, flexible, and inclusive working conditions;
- Contributing to the organisation of initiatives that promote the Directorate’s services in the areas of physical and psychological well‑being, equality, diversity and inclusion, and occupational health;
- Assisting with administrative tasks to support the Director and her team.
You are
If you:
- Bring expertise in the fields of equality and diversity, occupational health and safety, or possess relevant legal knowledge (ideally supported by prior experience);
- Are conscientious, well organised, detail-oriented and able to carry out tasks independently;
- Have a sense of initiative and ability to solve problems on your own;
- Are respectful, friendly and like to work in a team;
- Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Demonstrate creativity by proposing innovative solutions, creative ideas and approaches that foster change and continuous improvement;
- Have an excellent knowledge of English and/or French (additional EU languages are an asset; the ability to read and understand English documents is essential);
- Have a good command of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Have obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship.
