As the voice of citizens, the European Parliament stands for European democracy. Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) amplifies its message of the Parliament to reach every corner of Europe. We help connect Members of Parliament to the people they represent, and we communicate what the Parliament is, what it does, and what it stands for. When Parliament speaks, we make sure it’s heard.
We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.
In the Concept and Design Unit, we are responsible for branding, strategy, concept, copy and key visuals behind the European Parliament's major institutional campaigns like the next European Elections campaign, the Sakharov Prize, the LUX Film Prize, together.eu, etc.
We strive to work like an in-house creative agency.
The Concept and Design Unit is composed of two teams, the Concept team and the Design team. This role is within the Concept team.
Your tasks
Candidates should expect a mix of research, strategy development, branding, project coordination and administrative tasks. The function does not involve hands-on design work, although talented candidates will find opportunities to contribute to the creative process.
Selected candidates will carry out the following tasks under the supervision of a senior colleague:
1. Strategic planning and research
- Research, analyse and present data used to inform briefs and campaign strategies;
- Draft campaign briefs based on data, insights and stakeholders’ input;
- Research best practices in the advertising and public communication sectors and identify how they can be applied to the work of the EP and the Unit;
- Draft reports and presentations on topics such as campaign performance.
2. Project Management
- Develop briefs for communication products together with stakeholders and ensure that the creative production meets their needs;
- Ensure that communication products are delivered on time through effective coordination, including organising meetings, planning and scheduling, and reporting;
- Support brand management tasks, including maintaining and populating a brand asset management system, coordinating the production of assets, and responding to frequently asked questions on brand-related matters;
- Support the organisation of training sessions, including drafting internal communications and managing attendance.
You are
We are looking for a candidate who is/has:
- Obtained/will obtain a university degree (level 6 of EQF or higher) at least three months before the starting date of the traineeship;
- Trained in strategic communication and branding;
- Experience in working in an advertising agency is a plus;
- Knowledge of the EU, political science is a plus;
- Fluency in English (native-equivalent level is a plus);
- Passionate about communicating the EU more effectively;
- Able to communicate complex policy matters in a concise, simple and relatable way;
- Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting stakeholders’ needs and deadlines;
- Interested in pushing creative boundaries.
